Gateway Seniors Joins EAAA, PCHC, and Other Community Groups to Submit a Grant Proposal to Keep Area Elders Thriving in Place.

Several members of the Board of Directors of Gateway Seniors Without Walls  (Ann Davidoff, Karen Walker, and Cindy Jennings) have worked with other community groups to plan a project that will improve the chances of older people and disabled people to remain in their homes in the community.  If funded, the proposal stipulates that people with chronic, potentially disabling disorders in Orono, Old Town Veazie, and Milford will be selected for the program.  These people will receive individual counseling about their health and about the community resources that can benefit them.  Gateway Seniors will play 2 major roles: (1) offering activities that are likely to be beneficial, and (2) working with other agencies on the Senior Yellow Pages, under development.  The Senior Yellow Pages contain local services that are likely to be of help to older people.  We hope to have the booklet ready sometime during the summer of 2016.
